  Hilltop Civic Association Meeting Minutes

July 4, 2019

Our president, Ron Stern, opened the meeting by thanking Veronica and Gustavo for once again providing their carport as our venue!

Carol Leahy, who has been on Hilltop since the beginning (1968), announced that she was leaving the neighborhood. She will miss our “family” atmosphere. She was grateful for the wonderful friends and neighbors she has known over the years. Carol said that it was rare to have so many people you could rely on. As a consequence of her leaving, she will be stepping down as the social committee chair. Volunteers to replace her are welcome.

Ron also thanked Ron Rose (who came to the picnic) for helping the community more than anyone else. “He does it all with a smile,” Ron said.

Wall update: Ron has been in touch with the Dept. of Transportation of Montgomery county. They will check to see if the wall is on county property.

Next, we held our biennial elections for the three Hilltop Civic Association officers. Congratulations to Ron Stern (returning as president), Donna Optican (our new treasurer) and Glenn Melcher (our new secretary)!

A reminder was given that it is mosquito season. Two services (Mosquito Joe and Mosquito squad) were mentioned.

Treasurers report: We are solvent. All but two homes have paid their dues so far and those two will be contacted by Lenny.

Thanks were also given to Carol Simon (landscape & beautification committee) and Lance Optican (hilltopupdater.net webmaster).

New neighbors: We want to welcome our new neighbors, Luz and Doug, who have moved into the Kadivi house with their two kids, Dallas and Thia, for about 3 years.

Finally, Julie Williamson, who rents the house behind Ron Stern, thanked everyone for being extra cautious on our road when kids are going and coming from school.
